Karachi: People can now report about Cyber crime, Social Media harassment and blackmailing anywhere in Karachi. The initiative has been taken by Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC). Such facilities were never available for the Pakistanis before. It is by the efforts of CPLC that Cyber crime, Social media harassment and blackmailing have been recognized as a criminal activity that can be reported through a proper channel.
With passing days, harassment through social media and mobile phones has become very common majorly in mega cities like Karachi. Whereas, growing trends of social networking websites give rise to Cyber Crime.
Working with a logo of “let’s beat crime together” CPLC is dynamically functioning to curb the crime by providing awareness through social media and billboard’s advertisement mainly in 4 languages English, Urdu, Sindhi and Guajarati . The organization is explaining about the new genre of crimes like Cyber Crime in Pakistan where citizens are not very familiar with the word. Beside guiding citizens, CPLC also offers simplest way of reporting crime instantly via contact numbers and online reporting on their website.
Established in the year 1989, the CPLC was the brainchild of Justice (Retd) Fakhruddin G Ibrahim. It is a non government statutory organization run voluntarily by concerned and responsible citizens, assisting law enforcement to combat crime.
