CPLC women harassment complain bannerKarachi: The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) has set up a women complaint cell aimed at dealing with women harassment issues across the country. Women who are facing any sort of intimidation domestically or at work place or streets now have a platform where their voice will be heard. The cell will attend complaints all day long.

According to the CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy, the complaint center will provide justice to women suffering domestic abuse, sexual abuse, harassment at work or cyber bullying (harassment on social media). Also complaints of issues regarding woman’s right on ancestral property, khula and divorce, child custody, child marriage, illegal detention and abduction will be attended.

The major cell is formed at Governor House. However, the CPLC plans to expand the network of women complaint centers by opening offices at different districts of Sindh. Presently, four reporting cells are operating in the central, west, Malir, south and east zones of Karachi.

According to Chinoy, CPLC is recruiting female staff in the complaint cells to attend the complaints so that complainants do not hesitate in telling about their problems. Training of the staff is in process these days.

The problems of the complainants will be addressed by providing them protection and facilitating them with Legal assistance where needed.

CPLC is running an effective campaign on social media to publicly spread information about the launch of such complaint cells.
