Sarshar SiddiquiKarachi: Eminent Urdu poet and intellectual Sarshar Siddiqui died on Sunday at the age of 88 as he was was suffering from lung cancer. According to the details, religious poet Sarshar Siddiqui admitted at the local hospital where he breathed his last and left behind a widow and a son. His funeral prayers were held on Sunday at Masjid Darul Khair, Gulistan-e-Johar in which large number of famous poets, writers and journalists were presented. He buried at Dalmia Qabristan.

Poet Sarshar Siddiqui was born on Dec 25, 1926 in Kanpur, India as he was the son of Aulad Hussain and belonged to Moazzammabad in Unnao district, United Provinces. He passed his matriculation from a school of a school in Calcutta and completed his intermediate from Haleem Muslim College in Kanpur. In 1944, Sarshar Siddiqui wrote his first ghazal which was published in Nigar and after few years his first book named as Irtiqa was published. The famous poetry books of Sarshar Siddiqui are Irtiqa, Pathar ki Lakeer, Abjad, Baynaam and Khizaan ki Aakhri Shaam as Khizaan ki Aakhri Shaam was his last book which he wrote in 1988.

Late Sarshar Siddiqui had also become religious poet in the year 1984 when he joined his friend group for Umrah due to which he spiritually started to compose religious verses.
