According to the press release the recent elections which were held for the offices of All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS), Hameed Haroon got elected as the President of the society, He is the CEO of Dawn Media Group.
Whereas Rameeza Majid Nizami of ‘Daily Naw-i-Waqt’ was elected for the office of senior vice president along with her Mumtaz A. Tahir from ‘Daily Aftab’ got elected for Vice President Sarmad Ali of ‘Daily Jang‘ got elected for the position of General Secretary. Along with these individuals the executive committee also elected Rahmat Ali Raazi who is from ‘Weekly AZM and Daily Taaqat’ as joint secretary and Humayon Tariq from ‘Daily Business Report‘ got elected as Finance Secretary.
Hameed Haroon’s career in media started when he was only 17 years old, he started as a cub features writer at DAWN. After a break for his studies he joined back in 1980. In 1998 he became the Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Dawn Newspaper. He has been elected as President of APNS number of times before too. Born in Karachi on October 27, 1952. He holds a Master’s degree in Regional Studies (East Asia) from Harvard University, USA. He also has double Master’s in Political Economy and Economics from the Boston University, USA and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Economics from London School of Economics, UK.
