Ghazal Singer Habib Wali MohammadHabib Wali Mohammad was known as the legendary ghazal singer of Pakistan who had made his name in the field of singing through various super hit ghazals and songs. His famed ghazal “‘Aaj janay ki zid na karo” is embossed on many hearts as he got tremendous success and name through this super hit ghazal. The famous singer was born in Rangoon on 1921 in the industrialist family.

Habib Wali Mohammad who has keen interest in music started to learnt music from Ustad Latafath Husain during his young age. He had also participated in various musical shows and also received first prize in a Bombay music competition in the year 1941 in which he was competing with almost 1200 contestants. He started his singing career in the age of 20 at the time of 1950s as he sung his first ghazal for Radio Ceylon. He sung ghazals like “Lagta Nahin Hai Jee Mera Ujrray Dayaar Mein” and “Yeh Na Thi Hamari Qismat” written by Bahadur Shah Zafar and Mirza Ghalib respectively which became winning performances of him.

In 1947, Habib Wali received his MAB degree from Syracuse University, New York. He died on 3rd September at the age of 93 in Los Angeles as he lived with his wife and two sons in California, United States.
