Karachi: Acting Vice Chancellor of Federal Urdu University Dr. Qaiser has dismissed the Chairman of Mass Communication Department, Dr. Auj-e-Kamal. Former Dean of Urdu University Dr. Seemi Naghmana has been appointed as the new Chairperson of Mass Communication Department, Federal Urdu University. In fact, Dr. Seemi Naghmana has been already appointed as a Professor of Mass Communication Department, University of Karachi, before this new appointment in Urdu University and the syndicate has also approved her appointment.
Dismissal of Dr. Auj-e-Kamal and appointment of Dr. Seemi Naghmana as the new Chairperson of Mass Communication Department has created a controversy, as former chairman accused a professor of the department behind his dismissal. He said that the controversy was begun just after his appointment and he was at the second number on the basis of seniority at the time of retirement of previous chairman. Dr. Auj-e-Kamal also added that he had also received a letter from Registrar for PHD before this controversy.
On the other hand, newly appointed Chairperson Dr. Seemi Naghmana said that she deserved to be the chairperson of Mass Communication Department on the seniority basis, at the time of appointment of Dr. Auj-e-Kamal appointment. However, she will join Karachi University after receiving her appointment letter from the university.
