Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has fined one of the leading news channels of Pakistan ARY News for airing vulgar language during three different programs. According to a notice issued by the authority to the officials of ARY News, it has been stated that the channel had broadcasted absence words during the programs 11th Hour with Waseem Badami, Khara Sach and Marathon Election Transmission. According to this notice, Council of Complains has holds a meeting under the chairmanship of Inam Bari, in which it has been decided that the channel should be fined Rs. 1 lacs. In October 2015, Saleem Bukhari had used absence word for the parliamentarians in 11th Hour with Waseem Badami.
PEMRA has once again emphasized on the installation of time delay mechanism by all the news channels in order to remain safe at this type of situations. PEMRA has asked ARY News to submit the fine within the next 15 days of this notice, otherwise the case would be presented in the next meeting of the authority for further actions.
On the other end, different news channels including Geo News and Express News have been advised not to air interviews and messages of terrorists, as they were broadcasted earlier in G for Gharida and Capital Talk.
