PEMRAPakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has fined 4 leading television channels of Pakistan including Geo Kahani, ARY News, TV One and News One. According to the reports, PEMRA has imposed fine of Rs. 200,000 on one of the leading entertainment channel of Pakistan, Geo Kahani for airing immoral remarks in the morning show Subh-e-Pakistan. In this program, host Dr. Aamir Liaquat had used inappropriate words. While ARY News has been fined again for Rs. 200,000 for using inappropriate words by Zaid Hamid in the show Sawal Ye Hai.

On the other end, another popular news channel of Pakistan News One has been imposed heaviest fine of Rs. 300,000 for again airing inappropriate and vulgar language. The channel had broadcasted live call of former interior minister Zulfiqar Mirza, in which he had used immoral language during talk show of Dr. Shahid Masood. While PEMRA has imposed fine of Rs. 100,000 on TV One for airing inappropriate and objectionable scene in the program Meri Ashiqui Tum Say Hai, on-aired on 3rd December 2015.

PEMRA has also asked all the channels to not only pay their amount of fine within the next 15 days, but also broadcast their apology. PEMRA Council of Complaints has delayed complaints regarding other channels till the next meeting.
