PEMRAPakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) is active nowadays and taking notices of almost all the violations of its rules and regulations by television channels in Pakistan. Recently, PEMRA has fined Rs. 1 Lacs to one of the top news channels of Pakistan, Abb Takk TV for airing abusive words. According to the reports, PTI leader Shaukat Yousufzai had used immoral and abusive language in Fareeha Idrees Show, “Tonight With Fareeha”. Although Fareeha Idrees stopped Shaukat Yousuzai after his abusive words and asked him to leave, but PEMRA has stated that the time-delay mechanism was not adopted during that show. Previously, PEMRA had issued warning to all the news channels for violation of rules.

On the other end, another popular news channel of Pakistan Aaj News has received warning notice from PEMRA. According to the reports, former Senator of PPP, Faisal Raza Abidi had used very hard and abusive language for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in the program “Dialogue with Sidra Iqbal”. PEMRA has stated in its notice that the language and statements broadcasted by the channel are against the national interest of Pakistan. PEMRA has also mentioned that the channel had warned just after abusive remarks but after the break, guest had accused Pakistan for deceiving China.

It is to be noted that PEMRA has also issued advice to all the news channels of Pakistan for not discussing sensitive issue of Saudi Arabia and Iran dispute.
