Royal NewsPakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has suspended licenses of Royal TV and Sohni Dharti TV. According to the press release issued by the PEMRA, decision has been made to suspend the licenses of both the channels, in 109th meeting of the authority. During this meeting, officials of the authority have decided to take this initiative according to the rules and regulations of PEMRA. The authority has stated in its press release that Royal News has failed to pay its fine imposed by PEMRA. PEMRA had previously issued notice to Royal News for abusive remarks.

PEMRA has stated in its press released that Royal News has not followed rules and regulations of the authority and broadcasted abusive language in its program Issue Of The Day, particularly against Mubashir Luqman and generally against journalists. After this, PEMRA had served notice to Royal News in which it had been asked to pay the fine of Rs. 100,000 and to broadcast apology. Royal News has not even pay the fine but also not on-aired its apology.

On the other hand, the license of Sohni Dharti TV has been suspended by the authority for not operational from the last two years. PEMRA has said in its press release that the channel is non-operational from 2 years without any notice, which is clear violation of rules.
