Karachi: Leading news channel of Pakistan, Geo News van has been snatched on gunpoint in Karachi. According to the reports of Geo News, unidentified armed men entered in the van on Monday morning in Federal B Area, and tied the hands and legs of driver. After snatching his mobile phone and cash, they throw him near Valika hospital and took van with them. Case has been registered in Samanabad Police Station against unidentified men, under the acts of snatching. Sindh Police has started investigating this case and searching for the suspects.
After this incident, Interior Minister of Sindh, Sohail Anwar Siyal has taken notice of this and asked the law enforcement agencies to present the report. 3 member committee has been also formed for further investigation of this case, including IG Karachi Mushtaq Mehar and DIG West Feroz Shah. Federal Minister of Information and Broadcast, Parvez Rasheed has also condemned this act asked the authorities to arrest the suspects. He also said in his statement that every single attack on media will be considered attack on democracy in Pakistan.
It is to be noted that Pakistani media including journalists are facing many problems from many years and we have seen many threats and attacks in the last few months.
