Karachi: The reporter of Dunya News Munawar Alam survives in firing attack on Wednesday night. Munawar Alam was attacked in Gulistan-e-Jauhar when he was returning home after performing his duties from Dunya News office. Some unidentified persons opened fire at the car of Munawar Alam but he was luckily survived from the attack. Police reached the spot after incident and started further investigations on the incident. Dunya News reported that Munawar Alam had played an important role to expose many criminal groups in Karachi and this is the reason of attack on him.
The journalist unions and the politicians have condemned the attack on Munawar Alam and demanded the arrest of criminals involved in this coward attack. The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) also condemned the incident and has called for protest all over the country. Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid strongly condemned incident of firing on Munawar Alam. The president of Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) expressed the solidarity with Munawar Alam and condemned the incident.
It is not the first attack on journalist in Karachi but many journalists have been attacked in the past 5 years and Geo News reporter Wali Khan Babar lost his life in 2011 after attack on him in Liaquatabad.
