One of the most viewed channels in Pakistan, ARY News was shut down in different areas of Karachi last night on 24th Feb at around 11 PM. The transmission was forcefully cut off in many areas of Karachi by the unidentified people, ARY News reported. The sources of ARY News claimed that the transmission was forcefully cuts off in Shah Faisal, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Clifton, New Karachi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, North Nazimabad, Defence, Federal B Area and other populated areas of Karachi city. ARY News reported last night that the cable operators were threatened to shut down ARY News transmission by the unidentified people in Karachi. Similar complaints were also received from Hyderabad and Nawabshah where cable operations were forced to shut the ARY transmission.
The channel reported that ARY News had also paid price in the past for speaking truth and now again same practice is adopted to threatened famous news channel of Pakistan. People have expressed dismay through telephone calls to the channel regarding closure of ARY News, claimed by the channel. ARY News had also been shut down several times in Karachi and other areas of Sindh in the last few months due to its issue with the popular political party of Urban Sindh.
Famous anchor person of ARY News, Mubasher Lucman condemned the action taken against ARY News on Twitter. He also used hard words for the leader of that political party by declaring him “Joker” and gave the hint that ARY was closed at his instructions given from London.
