Faheem SiddiquiJournalist unions of Pakistan have protested against torture and kidnapping of senior journalist Faheem Siddiqui. Hundreds of journalists, politicians and representatives of civil society have participated in the protests, held in different cities of the country including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Sukkur and many others. The protestors were carrying placards in their hands and shouted against the torture on journalists in the country. Speakers of the protests have condemned the kidnapping of Bureau Chief of Geo News Faheem Siddiqui and demanded the Govt. to start investigations under the supervision of SHC Judge.

Senior journalist Idrees Bakhtiar said that the law enforcement agencies should take preventive measures to control this type of incidents. Khursheed Abbasi and Faheem Siddiqui said that the incident is against the whole journalist community and demanded to expose people involved in this. President of PFUJ Afzal Butt said that if the involved people not arrested, we will boycott the sessions of assemblies and will sit in outside CM and Governor Houses. The speakers of the protests called this incident as a conspiracy against the third pillar of state.

It is to be noted that senior journalist and Bureau Chief of Geo News Faheem Siddiqui was kidnapped and tortured on Saturday morning from North Nazimabad, when he was going to his office from home. Later on, he was dumped near Hub River allegedly by the people wearing police uniform.
