Educational Institutions Launch Anti-Vaping Awareness Drive

Jul 22, 2026

An awareness campaign has been launched in educational institutions to educate youngsters about the harmful effects of vaping and other nicotine products.

As part of the initiative, the Drug Advisory Training Hub organized a one-day awareness session for students from different universities. The session focused on the health risks linked to vaping, nicotine pouches, cigarettes, and other nicotine-based products.

Speaking at the event, anti-drug campaign consultant Syed Zulfiqar Hussain said demand for vaping among young people has increased by around 20%.

He noted that the global business of vapes, cigarettes, and nicotine pouches is expanding rapidly, making young people increasingly vulnerable to nicotine addiction.

According to Hussain, many students begin using these products while dealing with academic pressure and examination-related stress. What may start as an occasional coping mechanism can gradually develop into a regular habit and dependence.

He urged universities to establish dedicated counseling centers to support students’ mental health and provide professional guidance. Such centers, he said, could help students manage stress, make healthier choices, and avoid addictive behaviors.

At the end of the session, students were briefed on the negative health effects of vaping, practical ways to avoid nicotine use, and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle.
