IFJ Workshop held in Islamabad with Focus on Safety and Gender Equality
A transformative workshop organized by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) was held on 4th and 5th of December, 2024 here in Islamabad. The two-day event focused on important aspects of safety, ethics, and gender equality.
The trainers shared their expertise through interactive sessions, practical exercises, and insightful discussions. The workshop provided a platform for journalists to discuss pressing issues like job security, equal pay, and working conditions. Participants also emphasized the importance of merit-based promotions and gender equality in the media industry.
One of the most striking aspects of the workshop was the emphasis on journalist safety.
In a world where journalists often face threats and intimidation, the training provided invaluable guidance on risk assessment, security protocols, and digital security. The trainers shared real-life experiences and practical tips to help us stay safe while reporting.
Another key focus of the workshop was gender equality. Participants were encouraged to challenge gender stereotypes and promote diversity and inclusion in the newsroom. The training sessions highlighted the importance of gender-sensitive reporting and the need to address issues such as sexual harassment and discrimination.
The interactive nature of the workshop made it truly engaging. Participants were encouraged to share their experiences, ask questions, and participate in group discussions. This collaborative approach fostered a sense of community and allowed for rich exchange of ideas.
The event concluded with a speech by Secretary General National Press Club, Nayyer Ali, and the distribution of certificates to the participants.
