Media channels with offices in residential areas have been asked to vacate their offices from these areas on the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan. But the question is whether they will vacate or not?
During proceeding of case regarding commercial activities in residential areas of Islamabad Chief Justice Saqib Nisar gave one month to private media entities for shifting their offices.
ARY, Capital and BOL TV are among those channels which are operating their offices in residential areas. Their offices were sealed by Capital Development Authority (CDA) but SC gave them 6 weeks during which they can work in these offices but are not allowed to park DSNGs.
The problem not only persists in capital city but is also faced by citizens of other cities. The office of channel K21 is also established in residential area of Bahadurabad, similarly TV1 and NEWS1 are operating from residential area of PECHS.
Some channels have shifted their office after complains such as Play TV, though previously it maintained an office in Garden area.
People on many occasions have raised voice against commercial activities in residential areas including news channels, restaurants and schools.
