Pakistan Electronic Media Authority (PEMRA) is launching a crackdown against Indian satellite dishes from 15th October 2016.

Yearly Millions of Rupees from Pakistan are transferred to India through the purchase of illegal Indian Direct to Home (DTH). Indian DTH are banned in Pakistan and now PEMRA have decided to launch an operation against them along with Police.

This will be a country wide crackdown in which PEMRA will be assisted by Police, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) & Customs.

In an earlier crackdown the banks accounts, websites and mobile numbers of Indian DTH dealers have been shut down by government.

In a Press briefing PEMRA also advised Pakistani channels to follow the guidelines and give Indian content only 6% daily airtime. Giving additional time will result in legal action from PEMRA.
