Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a show cause notice to Royal News for broadcasting abusive remarks against journalism and journalists. According to the reports of Pakistani media industry, the authority has issued a show cause notice to the management of the channel, in which it has been claimed that the channel had broadcasted abusive remarks against not only Mubashir luqman, but also against journalism in Pakistan. Last month, Ibrahim Mughal and Rehmat Ali Razi have used abusive language in the program Issue of the Day, which is hosted by Wajahat Khan.
In that particular program, senior analyst Ibrahim Mughal had badly criticized journalists by not taking any name and said that journalism has now become a job for bad people and used very abusive word for journalists. On the other hand, Rehmat Ali Razi particularly blasted on senior journalist Mubashir Lucman by saying him a blackmailer and corrupt man. In the show cause notice, PEMRA has quoted the remarks of participants of the show and asked the management why such remarks have been broadcasted on the channel.
It is to be noted that use of abusive language in television shows has become a major problem in media industry and strict action is required by the authority in order to stop this.
