Annie Ali Khan was born as Quratulain Ali Khan in Lahore on 1980. Her father was from India who migrated to Pakistan after partition.

As his father was an airline pilot they have to move from Lahore to Islamabad and then in Karachi where she completed her schooling and graduated from Computer Science department of Sir Syed University in 2003. Details about her mother and siblings are not known.

She started off with her media career in the year 2004 doing live show from business plus bearing the name, ‘Women Entrepreneurs’, a program that discussed and highlighted the issues faced by the Pakistani business women.

She worked for Business Plus channel, Geo News, Aag TV, Play TV, Allure magazine, Xpoze monthly magazine, Asian society website, Al- Jazeera English and Voice of America (VOA).

Annie in the Pakistani journalism field has hosted entertainment, live programs while at the international level she has been an interviewer, a reporter, a writer, a voice- over artist, producer, editor and a freelancer.

In an interview she revealed that she started modeling by submitting a portfolio to photographer Tapu Javeri.

Her first breakthrough was commercial of Lipton tea which helped her to pursue her career in the showbiz industry. Later she worked for multiple renowned photographers, brands and fashion designers.

Another achievement of Annie was appearance in Shehzad Roy’s song ‘Saali Tu Maani Nahin’ for which she received MTV award. She also worked as a model for MTV where she was appreciated for her skills.

After moving to New York she decided to start her studies once again, this time she choose to complete Masters in Journalism from Columbia University which she completed in 2011. This embarked her on a new journey as a writer.

About her experience in the university she said ‘One thing university has done has made me realize how insignificant I really am.’

As a journalist she wrote articles and published reports for Dawn, Herald, The Express Tribune, The Asia Society, Marie Claire, Tanqeed, The Caravan & Roads and Kingdoms. She also appeared in TV shows on Pakistani and foreign channels especially regarding the problems of women in Pakistan.

Death:

In the night of July 21, 2018 she was found dead in her apartment where she lived alone while his husband Sofian was living in New York. She died due to suffocation from a mysterious fire in the house.

Later it was revealed that she committed suicide by putting her books on fire, it was also revealed that at that time she had separated from her husband. Her age at the time of her death was only 38.

According to police her neighbor reported fire in the flat after which police broke into the house where she was found dead with some burning books. According to police she committed suicide and died due to suffocation from the fire.

She was working on a book at that time which is believed to be at the last stages of completion. The book was about women in Pakistan which was to be published by Simon and Schuster.

Annie Ali Khan was a host, a producer, a reporter, an anchor, editor, writer, an intern for public relation field, a blogger and air talent. She will always be remembered for her work.
