Faisal MotaKarachi: The convict in the Wali Khan Babar’s murder case Faisal Mehmood alias Faisal Mota has challenged the death sentence in Sindh High court.  He was arrested by Rangers in a raid at 90 Azizabad Headquarters of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) he was sentenced to death by court in the Murder case of Wali Khan Babar.

According to the news, the lawyer of Faisal Mehmood, Advocate Masoob Qureshi filed an application in the Sindh Highcourt challenging the death sentence as illegal as it was awarded in absence (legal term: absentia) of the accused. As per the lawyer the articles 21-L and 31-A of the anti- terrorism Act 1997 state that a death sentence cannot be awarded in the absence of the accused. While Faisal was sentenced to death on 1st March 2014 without being present there.

The lawyer of Faisal has submitted the application into the Sindh Highcourt for dismissal of the death sentence. The legal team also requested a re-trial of the case. The accused Faisal is the worker of Muttahida Quami Movement as per the sources, who got arrested by Rangers. Wali Khan Babar was murdered by unknown miscreants when he was heading towards his home from office he was shot dead by miscreants near the Liaquatabad area.
