Renowned Pakistani, stand-up comedian and actor Umer Sharif said present circumstances of Karachi don’t permit to arrange a stage drama anymore. Due to the circumstances, people of Quaid’s city are afraid of coming out of their homes to enjoy stage dramas; the fact is eventually resulting decline of staging drama in the city.
He expressed his thoughts while talking to one media correspondent. He further said that, in the past I have presented numerous quality stage dramas along with my co-artists. In those times, people used to come one after another to watch his dramas. But sadly, people don’t come to watch anymore with such enthusiasm. In an answer to a question, he admitted that because of tough schedule I couldn’t present stage shows for a very long time but now I will soon give good news of bringing a new stage drama for Karachiites. Famous comedian also added that our artists are working hard, all the cultural institutes should cooperate with them.
Umer Sharif is also known as ‘King of Comedy’. He started his career in showbiz from the year 1974 in Karachi as a stage performer at the age of 14. He was born in Liaquatabad, Karachi.
