Lahore High Court (LHC)Lifts the ban imposed on Indian Content by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), declaring the ban as ‘null & void’. Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah said that the world has become a global village.

PEMRA banned all Indian content including movies & dramas on 19th October 2016 after the relations between the two countries deteriorated because of Uri attack.

Later a petition was filed by Leo Communication, parent organization of FILMAZIA channel which usually airs Indian content. They claimed that the ban was not imposed by Government of Pakistan and PEMRA acted over its power by banning such content and PEMRA acted over its power by banning such content.

Indian movies were allowed to be screened all over Pakistan but because of PEMRA notification plays were not aired on TV channels. Now after the judgment TV channels are allowed to air such content.

Previously citizens have also raised questions on the airing of Indian content criticizing that these content are affecting the minds of the new generation.
